The Rowan Fund is dedicated to 15-year-old Rowan Nobbs, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 7, 2024. Rowan was the cherished daughter of Heather and Malcolm Nobbs and the sister to Molly, Phoebe and Tiggy.
Born with an intellectual disability, Rowan's journey was further complicated by refractory epilepsy, which began when she was 9 years old. Despite her cognitive impairment, limited language skills, and poor balance, Rowan's spirit and courage touched everyone who knew her.
Acknowledging that they have been fortunate enough to provide financially and physically for Rowan’s care, and recognizing that many families aren’t as fortunate, Malcolm and Heather are honouring Rowan’s legacy with the creation of The Rowan Fund, a fund in support of LIGHTS - helping those with intellectual disabilities live independently in their community.
Through fundraised dollars LIGHTS provides interim support to families who cannot afford the start-up costs of independent living such as rent, utilities, caregiver costs and personal needs.
This support to The Rowan Fund will help families bridge early cash flow needs while seeking additional resources to cover these costs in the long term. Your donation ensures that more people with intellectual disabilities can achieve a sense of independence and dignity, living in communities where they are valued and supported.
Join us in honouring Rowan today. Your support will make a difference in the lives of countless families. Together, we can ensure that Rowan’s memory lives on through the positive changes we bring to our community.
ONE DOLLAR BECOMES THREE!
An anonymous donor has come forward with a challenge!
For every dollar raised up to $100,000 until March 31, 2025, they will give two dollars.
This means that $100,000 raised becomes $300,000!
Help us take advantage of this incredibly generous offer so that we can continue to help people with their journey to independent living.
